Trumpet Little Lady

Yesterday we went to watch our granddaughter Reese's concert. It brought back memories from the times we went to watch our own children at their school events. I found it to be a happy evening even if it was crowded with people I don't know. Being with my family was a blessing.

The first concert was for a younger bunch than our granddaughter and I found it to be so funny that the "Christmas" program had nothing to do with the season but was about being green --- recycling. Ok! Well the choir looked like they were having fun. I missed the songs from my children's youth.... hurry santa, jingle bells, all I want for Christmas is  my two front teeth; or the music from my youth Silent Night, T'waz the night before Christmas, Frosty the Snowman... sigh. I know things change but do they have to?

Beader?

I have been neglecting beading, probably because of my eyes. They sting and water when I try to work on the bead projects. Even so, I have taken on a big project for myself. My son Klinton asked if I would attempt to make an Alutiiq headdress for his wife. So I have been reading and looking at them online. There is not much.

The Alutiiq culture took a major hit when the Russian explorers entered the picture. Lots of traditions were lost in the invaders wish to be uppermost in traditions and then more when the government decided it was best for them to not speak Alutiiq. Wiped out so much and almost totally the Alutiiq language. Sad. But now one can hear the language and learn how to speak it but it is hard if there is no one to speak it with.  Ah-hook.

Anyway. I am trying to bead.

I will post a picture when I can get to them.

Back to Beading?

It's been so long since I've felt like doing any beadwork. I've new patterns but don't have the desire to get at it. I find that it helps to keep motivated by visiting other beaders!

SO today, I am going to finish a pair of earrings I began LAST SUMMER!

I fixed the comments

Well the comments here were not working. I had it set to comments only from contributors or something like that. Funny I would have been the only one that could comment! So comment away now everyone... and don't all comment at the same time!

Forget-Me-Nots For Marie

Marie decided for some reason that she had to get her own apartment even though we have gazillions of room for her here at home. Anyway, I was working on this project. A bracelet with little blue flowers. They are supposed to be forget-me-nots.

I thought it would be funny to give it to her with the plea that she won't forget me, her Mom. I know she won't but as I worked on it and listened to her packing and moving, I decided then I was going to give it to her.

Finally it's done.

It has a beaded toggle and clasp, my favorite way to end these peyote stitch bracelets. Hope you enjoy seeing what I just made.

My Forget-Me-Not

It's just a little flower,

But it has a great big thought;

'Cause everytime you look at it,

It says, "Forget-me-not!"

Dead Bead!

I've not done any bead work lately. I am crocheting. No beads involved, but it is a handcraft that I also enjoy doing. I actually began this afghan over two years ago! Yes, I am embarrassed to say how long it's been waiting to be finished. I brought it with with me to all sorts of places ---in a bag and worked on it during those times I am waiting for my husband or waiting for motocross to begin or out camping. When I get back home the whole bag goes back into the corner where it is promptly forgotten!

Here is a picture of what I have accomplished with the afghan so far.

Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!

One of my favorite places to shop online is Artbeads.com. They had some very good sales recently and I decided to order new beads. I don't know yet where these will end up but I am enjoying looking at them right now!

Garnets, seaweed quartz, opal quartz, fancy jasper and my favorite of the bunch black sardonyx! They are beautiful!

Keeping Up With Blogger.com

I decided to upgrade to the new Blogger Template with the new layout feature.

I have not been beading so much during the summer. We have been camping and busy attending motocross racing. My two sons, my daughter and her husband and two of my granddaughters are all involved with it so that is where we end up most weekends!
